Mr. Wong's Last night a big group of exchange students headed out to a place we had heard of which is all you can eat and drink (beer) for only $60 HKD (~$7.75 USD)! It is called Mr. Wong's and is mainly visited by exchange students. Not knowing what to expect, I was still surprised as soon as I got there. The place was packed and had people running all over and we finally managed to get a table at a very long table that still had dirty plates and utensils from the people prior (who had left not even ten seconds before we sat down). We sat on tiny plastic stools outside under a plastic tarp at the back of the restaurant. There were two large freezers stocked of the only beer they offered, (pictured above) and everyone immediately began to pass them around as it was the sole beverage offered. Mr. Wong and his workers brought out (hopefully clean??) plates and chopsticks and shortly after began the arrival of food. It was a set menu, and there were about five "courses" to the meal although they all contained some sort of meat, except for the broccoli and peanut dish (pictured above) which I mixed with rice. The food was decent for the little money I paid - but the place was dirty, chaotic, and would have definitely not passed a US health inspection, but it was definitely a one-of-a-kind unforgettable experience.
After leaving Mr. Wongs we were all planning on going out in Lan Kwai Fong (LFK) which is known to have some of the best nightlife in Hong Kong, but it began to rain and our group was large that some of us got separated from the group. We hadn't been to this part of Hong Kong before, so we wandered around for a bit before being seated at a small bar. I ordered this berry drink which to my surprise cost $130 HKD including a service charge- oops! While I now know not to order any drinks out, the worst part of the evening had still yet to come. We didn't stay for long, and left right after finishing what we had ordered. It was still raining but began to downpour, yet the streets of LFK were still filled with people. We walked around for not too long, and then decided to go back to our dorms because we were soaked and tired. We had to stand in very long line on the side of the road to wait for a taxi. When we all finally did get back, we were wet, tired, and went immediately to sleep.
